SPAO BORGO SAN PIETRO: AUTHENTIC MATERIALS AND SCENT OF HISTORY
Buildings were been dismantled, stone after stone, and then they were stabilized and reconstructed with the original materials, respecting the reconstructive techniques. Every corner of Spao Borgo San Pietro tells a story, instills the past emotions and immerses guests in a spiritual atmosphere, a deep contact with nature and with themselves too.
The Umbrian medieval hamlet restoration works are part of the project called “L’Italia che eravamo” (Italy we were) by the entrepreneur Stefano Magini who represents heart and mind of Spao Borgo San Pietro rebirth: “Our project wants to continue the path started by Benedectine monks – he says – , a project that during these years has been undertaken by many farmers, with the aim to offer to our guests all the beauty of nature and power of water”.
Here again water, source of life, to which the hamlet owe its name: San Pietro (Saint Peter) arrived to Pisa through the via Francigena, in this pleasant place he made the water flow to give Baptism. And the term “aquae ortus” means “water spring”.
